Firion, Maria & Guy
| Character | Suggested build |
|---|---|
| Firion | The flexible lead. A natural physical hybrid — commit him to one weapon type (sword is classic) and teach him a couple of utility spells. Can go any direction you like. |
| Maria | The classic bow + Black magic mage-archer. Bows hit from the back row safely; level a focused offensive spell set (Fire/Blizzard/Thunder). |
| Guy | The axe bruiser/tank. High Strength and HP — one heavy weapon type, front row, soak and smash. |
These three never leave, so they're where your long-term investment should go. Pick each one's lane on the Growth page early and feed it every fight.
The rotating guests
The fourth slot cycles through allies the story lends you. Some stay only briefly — so be careful how much you invest (and strip their good gear before they leave; see Secrets).
| Guest | Role / notes |
|---|---|
| Minwu | A skilled White mage with strong starting magic — great healing while he's with you. Temporary. |
| Josef | A burly fighter from the snow town. Temporary — and his arc is one of the game's emotional beats. |
| Gordon | A timid prince; weak on arrival and needs babying to be useful. Temporary. |
| Leila | A pirate — fast, thief-flavored, decent with the right weapon. Temporary. |
| Ricard | The last Dragoon — strong, with Jump. A memorable late guest. Temporary. |
| Leon is Firion's lost brother and the story's Dark Knight antagonist — he never joins the rotating fourth slot. He only fights alongside the party in the final battle. | |
Rule of thumb: pour your gear and grinding into the permanent trio. Use guests as they come, lean on standouts like Minwu's healing and Ricard's Jump while you have them, but don't hand a departing guest your best equipment.
