Chapter 5 checklist
Comfort level: mid-40s+ recommended before committing to the no-save run (PR is softer than Famicom but still long).
- Fill inventory: Hi-Potions, Ethers, Phoenix Downs, Cottages, status cures, tent equivalents
- Job levels high on final four; keep swap CP banked
- Clear Eureka; claim legendary weapons you can equip
- Enter Crystal Tower only when ready for a long uninterrupted session
- Defeat tower bosses; reach the portal to the World of Darkness
- World of Darkness + Cloud of Darkness (Ch.6)
There is no save in the tower run
- Crystal Tower → (Eureka is usually accessible as a side dungeon before or via the tower complex — clear Eureka first while you can still leave and save).
- Once you commit to the World of Darkness continuum, assume you cannot quit mid-run safely.
- Set aside real-world time. Wipe = full redo from last overworld save.
- Double-check equipment: ribbons, elemental protection, best weapons.
Order of operations: (1) Grind & shop on the overworld. (2) Eureka for legendaries. (3) Save at tower entrance. (4) Crystal Tower. (5) World of Darkness. (6) Cloud of Darkness.
Eureka — legendary weapons
- Access Eureka via the story teleporter / dungeon mouth unlocked after the four crystals and sage plot.
- Eureka is a brutal optional dungeon with superbosses guarding ultimate weapons (Excalibur, Ragnarok, Elder Staff, etc. — exact list in PR job menus).
- Fight one legendary guardian at a time; leave and save between if the structure allows.
- Equip the weapons that match your final jobs. A Ninja with dual legendaries changes the math of the tower.
Who should farm Eureka? Anyone aiming at 100% or who found Saronia bosses rough. Story can be beaten without every legendary, but the no-save run is far kinder with them.
Crystal Tower (Syrcus) — steps
- Enter only with full items and a clear plan.
- Multi-floor climb; heavy randoms. Use Teleport only if you accept aborting the run.
- Open chests when safe; skip fights only if ranks are already capped for your taste.
- Mid-bosses: full buff rotations (Haste, Protect, elemental nukes).
- At the summit: portal / transition into the World of Darkness — continue in Chapter 6 without assuming a save.
Gauntlet tips (self-contained)
- One Devout/Sage always on healing duty; never all-out DPS.
- Flee worthless trash if HP is awkward and the run is long.
- Phoenix Down the second someone dies — chain deaths end runs.
- Job swap only if a wall demands it (undead floor → Fire; etc.) and you have CP.
- If a fight looks wrong in the first round, Escape and reset the encounter.
