Final Fantasy V

Pixel Remaster

The job-system masterpiece. Four heroes earn 22 Jobs from the shattered Crystals, learn abilities permanently, then mix abilities across classes for combos the game never intended. The whole depth is the secondary-ability engine and a few legendary build combos.

Overview & the job system

  • Jobs from Crystals. Each shattered Crystal grants a batch of Jobs. A character set to a Job earns ABP in battle, raising that Job's level and permanently teaching its abilities.
  • Mix and match. Beyond the Job's innate command, you equip one secondary ability (a learned command or passive) from any other job. This cross-class slot is the entire build system.
  • Master a Job (max its level) to unlock its best ability and carry its innate passives onto the Freelancer and Mime jobs.
  • Freelancer & Mime are the endgame vessels. Freelancer inherits the innate abilities and best stats of every mastered Job (2 ability slots); Mime has no innate command but equips three abilities. Stack your mastered combos here.
  • The winning idea: master a handful of key jobs, then run Freelancer/Mime with Dual-Wield + Rapid Fire (physical) or Dualcast (magic).
Pixel Remaster noteThe PR is based on the SNES original: 22 jobs, plus the optional superbosses Omega and Shinryu in the Rift. It does not include the GBA Advance extras (Gladiator, Cannoneer, Oracle, Necromancer jobs or the Sealed Temple / Enuo). It does add the usual PR quality-of-life and an updated translation (Bartz, Lenna, Faris, Galuf, Krile, Exdeath, Gilgamesh).
