Matoya’s cave, the pirate Bikke, your first ship, Elfheim’s curse, and the road that ends with a Dark Elf and the Mystic Key.

Chapter goals

Chapter 2 checklist

Comfort level: Lv 5–10. Ship battles can spike; grind on the peninsula if needed.

  • Visit Matoya; learn she needs her Crystal Eye (cannot finish yet)
  • Reach Pravoka; defeat Bikke’s pirates; obtain the Ship
  • Buy Pravoka gear and spells (Blindga/etc. as budget allows; prioritize weapons)
  • Optional: Peninsula of Power EXP route
  • Sail / march to Elfheim; learn of the prince’s sleep and Astos
  • Clear Western Keep exterior story; accept the crown / Astos thread
  • Marsh Cave crown (Ch.3)
  • Return Eye to Matoya; Jolt Tonic for elven prince (Ch.3)
Cave

Matoya the witch

  1. Northeast of the bridge, find Matoya’s Cave on the overworld.
  2. Inside: broomstick NPCs, Matoya herself. She is blind without her Crystal Eye.
  3. She cannot help the elven prince until the Eye returns. You will steal it from Astos after Marsh Cave (Ch.3).
  4. Loot any chests in her cave; leave when done.
Town & boss

Pravoka — pirates and the ship

  1. Travel east along the coast to Pravoka, occupied by pirates.
  2. Enter the pirate building / approach Bikke as NPCs indicate.
  3. Fight: Bikke plus pirate adds (or sequential pirate battle depending on PR flow). Focus adds if they outnumber you; keep Cure ready.
  4. Victory: Bikke stands down and grants the Ship. Board it from the dock.
  5. Ship controls: sail shallow coastal waters. You cannot yet cross the locked canal near the dwarves — that needs TNT in Ch.3.

Pravoka shops

  • Upgrade weapons again — ship money from sea fights comes fast.
  • Armor: buy the best each class can wear.
  • Magic: expand Black (Fira when available later towns; for now fill Lv1–2 gaps). White: Nul spells / Silence as offered.
  • Stock 20+ Potions; Antidotes; Gold Needles if paralysis shows up in bestiary.
Optional grind

Peninsula of Power (ship era)

  • Near Pravoka’s waters lies a peninsula / coastline where enemy formation tables pull much harder packs than the surrounding seas.
  • In classic versions this was infamous for broken EXP; PR rebalanced encounters but the area can still be a fast grind if you can survive.
  • How to use it: Save often. Enter fights only when HP full. Run from nightmare formations. Leave when you gain 2–3 levels.
  • If your party is melting, ignore this and grind normal coasts — 100% does not require cheese.
Goal levels before Marsh Cave (next chapter): roughly Lv 10–12 makes the undead and packs safer.
Story

Elfheim & the Western Keep

  1. Sail south/west as the world map allows to reach the elven lands (Elfheim / Elfland region).
  2. Enter Elfheim. Shops here sell meaningful upgrades — buy what you can.
  3. Castle: the Elf Prince sleeps under a curse. NPCs blame the Dark Elf Astos of the Western Keep and speak of a stolen crown in the Marsh Cave.
  4. Visit the Western Keep. A “king” asks you to retrieve his crown from the Marsh Cave. This is a lie — it is Astos. Play along; you need the crown sequence to unmask him.
  5. Do not attack yet without the crown. Leave for Marsh Cave in Chapter 3.

Elfheim shop priorities

  • Weapons for Warrior/Thief/Red Mage mid tiers.
  • White: Protect / Invis / Cura line when stocked.
  • Black: Blizzard / Thunder to start covering all three classic elements before Lich/Marilith/Kraken.
